On the 8th of December 2002, at the picturesque bank of Kanderbera River on the Ranchi-TATA highway, a few IT vendors gathered together to enjoy a winter picnic. The objective was not just to have a picnic. There was a larger commitment in their minds - to form an association. The gathered group had been desperately feeling the need of an association for mutual interests.
On that very historical day, they formed a small and firm consortium, and signed on the minutes of the meeting for the formation of their own Association, which is now known as JITA (Jamshedpur Information Technology Association).
